Podcasting refers to a form of organization of media clips. These clips can be audio only or full video and audio clips that you can typically play on your computer. The term podcasting comes from the ability to organize and collect this media in an easy to use format on a portable media device, like an iPod.
No. An iPod is a method to watch or listen to your media while you are away from your computer. You can still enjoy the content provided here on your computer, as long as you have the minimum requirements met.
A Windows with 2000, XP, or Vista, or Macintosh computer with 10.3 or higher. You need to have at least QuickTime 7 or later installed. To make life as easy as possible, it is recommended just to install the current version of iTunes, which comes with QuickTime.
In the left column, just below the play button, is an item labeled Library. There you have items Music, Movies, TV Shows, and then Podcasts. Click Podcasts.
Once you have the podcast open (see the previous note if you need to find them), then you double click on the podcast. If it doesn’t have a GET button to the right of the name then it will begin playing. If it does have a GET button, it will begin downloading that podcast.
Go into the preferences, (On Windows, go to the menu bar, choose Edit and scroll to the bottom of that menu, on Macs, it is in the menu bar, under iTunes. ) Second item should be Podcasts.
Audio-only podcasts allow older iPods to play this type of content, it also allows audio CDs to be created, and the format can be converted easily for other applications.
In older versions of iTunes, before version 7.3, the video would play in a little box in the lower left-hand corner. This box can be hidden. To open the box, on the lower left corner are four buttons, click the button with a rounded square and a triangle pointing up in it. (The last one of the four) and then video will appear. Double click on the image to open it bigger.
In the newest versions of iTunes (7.3 and greater) roll your cursor over the video. Look for a button that looks like:
